Cold Case Break? Convicted Felon’s Fingerprints Found in Maura Murray’s Car
Could This Convicted Felon Hold the Key to One of America’s Most Puzzling Missing Persons Cases?
A suspect in the disappearance of Maura Murray has finally been named… and he’s been a suspect for quite some time. Let’s talk about him.
Yesterday, Steffen Baldwin was sentenced to 15 years in prison. A former West Point cadet, Baldwin attended WP at the same time as Maura Murray. His crimes were disturbing, disgusting and now, potentially tied to one of the most infamous missing persons cases in the country.
Back in 2012, Baldwin was appointed as a humane agent in Ohio, investigating animal cruelty cases. He even started his own nonprofit, the Animal Cruelty Task Force, taking in dogs with behavioral issues that needed rehabilitation. On the surface, it seemed like charitable work. He was euthanizing them—dozens of dogs, over 100 cats—to make room for more animals and, ultimately, to make more money.
It took years, but in 2020, authorities finally caught up with him. He was charged with 48 felonies. His fingerprints were entered into CODIS. And this is where the disappearance of Maura Murray comes in…
